The Minnesota Twins have sent 22-year old righty swinging CF Byron Buxton back down to AAA. Buxton has played in 63 games for the Twins so far this year and he is 38 of 197 (.193 avg, .561 OPS) with 20 runs scored, 4 triples, 1 homers, 16 RBIs and 9 stolen bases. He often looks hopeless at the plate, as he has whiffed 80 times for the Twins so far this year while only walking 13 times. Buxton has now played in 109 games in his first two years with the Twins and he is 65 of 326 (.199 avg, .567 OPS) with 36 runs scored, 3 homers, 22 RBIs and 11 stolen bases. He has walked 19 times against 124 whiffs in his first two years with the Twins. Buxton came into this season as the Twins’ #1 prospect according to Baseball America. He will have to learn that it doesn’t matter how fast you are…..you can’t steal first base!
