The Minnesota Twins have called up 29-year old lefty starting pitcher Tommy Milone. Milone pitched in 5 games (4 starts) earlier this year for the Twins and he was 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. Instead of sulking after his demotion, Milone got determined to get back to the show. He pitched in 7 games (all starts) in AAA-ball for the Twins this year and he was 4-0 with a 1.66 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. Milone has given up 41 hits and 4 walks while whiffing 41 batters in 48 2/3 innings in AAA-ball. The Twins hope that Milone is better this time around as their starting rotation has really stunk it up so far this year. The Twins have sent 27-year old lefty Pat Dean to AAA to make room in the rotation for Milone. Dean pitched in 8 games (6 starts) for the Twins so far this year and he was 1-3 with a 5.54 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP. Dean has given up 48 hits (6 homers) and 15 walks while whiffing 28 batters in his first 39 innings for the Twins so far this year, so he got hit pretty hard in his first taste of the show!
