The Minnesota Twins have placed 25-year old switch-hitting CF/SS Danny Santana on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained left hamstring.  Santana has played in 35 games for the Twins so far this year and he is 32 of 124 (.258 avg, .637 OPS) with 16 runs scored, 1 homer, 10 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.  The Twins have called up 22-year old righty swinging outfielder Byron Buxton to replace Santana on the active roster.  Buxton played in 17 games earlier this year for the Twins and he was 7 for 45 (.156 avg, .497 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 0 homers, 2 RBIs and 2 stolen bases.  He whiffed an amazingly awful 24 times while only walking 2 times in his first stint this year for the Twins.  He then played in 29 games in AAA-ball after his demotion and he was 39 for 116 (.336 avg, 1.007 OPS) with 26 runs scored, 6 homers, 14 RBIs and 4 stolen bases.  So there is some hope that Buxton will be better this time around for the Twins.  Buxton has now played in 63 games in his first two years with the Twins and he is 34 of 174 (.195 avg, .555 OPS) with 21 runs scored, 2 homers, 8 RBIs and 4 stolen bases.  He has whiffed 68 times against only 8 walks so far in his career in the show.  Buxton came into this season as the Twins’ #1 prospect according to Baseball America and it’s time for him to start showing why they ranked him that high.
