21-year old lefty starting pitcher Stephen Gonsalves came into this season as the Minnesota Twins‘ #9 prospect according to Baseball America. He has pitched in 6 games (all starts) in A-ball so far this year and he is 4-1 with a 1.21 ERA and a 0.83 WHIP. He has given up only 18 hits and 13 walks while whiffing 35 batters in his first 37 1/3 innings this year….which are very, very impressive numbers. Gonsalves has now pitched in 52 games (49 starts) in his first four years in the minors for the Twins and he is 23-8 with a 2.03 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. The Twins might put Gonsalves on the fast track to Minnesota.
